Got questions?

If the answer to your question is not listed below, please email us at hello@scalpnation.co.uk or and we will get back to you as soon as we can!
Is Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) The Same As A Tattoo?

In short yes, it is placing pigment under the skin so it falls under the umbrella of a tattoo. However, SMP is the specific technique used to replicate existing hair follicles so there are nuances in technique, needles that are used and the depth we implant the ink.

Does SMP Hurt?

Minimal pain is felt during SMP. Most clients say 3/10 in comparison to a traditional tattoo. However, everybody’s pain threshold is different. We are here to make your treatment as comfortable as possible.

Does The Treatment Fade Or Discolour?

Over time (2-5 years) the treatment will naturally fade, at this point a touch up is recommended. We only use carbon based black pigments so you can be sure the impressions will not turn blue in colour.

How Long Does SMP Last?

Our treatment will usually last anywhere between 2-5 years before we recommend you having a touch up session just to keep it looking fresh. As part of our aftercare we'll give you guidance on how to maintain your scalp for better retention.

Will SMP Look Real?

Our main specialism at Scalp Nation is realism. We pride ourselves on creating natural looking transformations with Will's signature "Undetectable" techniques. This will always be our recommendation and ensuring we create the best look for you. Feel free to view some examples in our gallery.

How Long Does SMP Take?

Treatment times vary depending on what is being done. As a rough guide, most treatments require 3x sessions, with each session lasting between 2-4 hours depending on the condition of the scalp and the area that needs covering. The sessions are spaced to give your scalp enough time to heal and regenerate. We are able to give a clearer timeline on your free consultation.

How Do You Choose The Right Colour/Hairline?

Scalp Nation treats SMP as a very personal and unique process; each individual hairline, shape and softness should be completely bespoke to each client. We have a method that will ensure that any hairline you do choose will be the most natural for you. With your ideas and our expertise we work together to build your dream hairline.
