Watch Joe's SMP Story

An innovative and modern treatment that breaks all conventional hair loss rules, scalp micropigmentation provides an aesthetic solution that creates an illusion of hair.

The result is a look synonymous to that of the iconic buzz-cut, fresh out of the barber’s chair or underlying shading for overall diffuse thinning.

Men and women stretching to every corner of the globe suffer from hair loss. It’s a worldwide problem affecting over 35% of men by the time they reach 35 years of age.

Fast-forward 15 years and the number increases to a breathtaking 87% of men experiencing hair loss. For women, the percentages are slightly kinder and often the hair loss extent is less dramatic but there are still two-thirds that experience hair loss by 50. But percentages aside, the psychological impact it can have on your life is devastating.

Here's what our clients say about Scalp Nation

Real Google reviews from some of our customers

Peter - Billericay, Essex

"Wow, what a difference this has made In my life. I am so pleased with the results and I feel so much more confident in my day to day life.

If I think back to the beginning of the process, I was so nervous about SMP and whether it would work for me.

Will went above and beyond in talking me through the process and even put me in contact with his colleagues in America to discuss the process.

In terms of the actual sessions, Will is very experienced and knows exactly what to do to create what you want; as he would say you have to ‘trust the process’ and the three sessions will all come together at the end.

If you are thinking about having this done, go for it you will not regret it. Thanks again Will!"

Jim - Colchester, Essex

"I could not have chosen a better artist for my SMP. I don’t need to tell you guys how good Will’s work is, anyone can see that from his website or Instagram.

What you can’t see, but will come to learn from spending time with Will during your sessions, is the passion and vision Will has for his trade.

My initial interest in the treatment was purely vanity, not gonna lie, but above and beyond what I came for, Will’s drive to improve peoples overall sense of well-being, mental health, or life in general through improved confidence and self esteem, made the whole journey and experience second to none. It’s not a job to him, it’s a vocation.

I had never (knowingly) seen anyone with SMP before so I had concerns I’d walk out after my first session and everyone would notice, but I assure you the work is literally undetectable, built up layer by layer, shade by shade. That’s no exaggeration, not even my wife noticed until I told her! And believe me, even though you’re probably thinking you’ll keep your treatment a secret, with the quality of work and service you’ll receive, you’ll end up telling the world about it.

Best money I ever spent. If you’re scrolling SMP services and comparing artists, good, do your due diligence, but honestly, look no further. Scalp Nation is the one."

Your questions answered about scalp micropigmentation

I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have, please drop me an email or call me

Is scalp micropigmentation the same as a tattoo?

In short yes, it is the same as a tattoo, however it has subtle differences.  i.e the technique, needles that are used and the depth we implant the ink.

Does it hurt?

Minimal pain is felt during SMP. Most say 3/10 in comparison to a traditional tattoo. However, everybody’s pain threshold is different. We advise clients to have eaten and drunk well on the day of the treatment. Further information can be found on our pre-treatment forms.

Does the treatment fade or discolour?

Over time (2-5 years) the treatment will naturally fade down, at this point a touch up is recommended. We only use carbon based black pigments so you can be sure the impressions will not turn blue in colour.

How long will it last?

Our treatment will usually last anywhere between 2-5 years before any touch up is required. The touch up is a quicker procedure in comparison to your initial treatment. Please enquire regarding prices on touch ups.

Will it look real?

Scalp micropigmentation will give you the illusion of that 5 o’clock shadow/buzz cut look. Through training with some of the best artist in the world rest assured that our finish is undetectable.

How long does it take?

Our treatment times generally last from 2-4 hours depending on the condition of the scalp and the area that needs covering.

How long will the redness last?

Everybody’s skin type is slightly different but we usually say 24-72 hours. Please follow post treatment guidelines.
